Bird & Nest Removal from Chimneys & Flues

Birds, possums or nests blocking your chimney? We safely clear them across Sydney and fit a cowl to keep them out.

Blocked Sydney chimney flue cleared of debris and nesting material
What it involves

Signs something’s living in your chimney

A blocked flue is more than a nuisance — a bird’s nest or a possum in the chimney stops smoke escaping, pushes carbon monoxide back into the home and is a serious fire risk. Scratching, chirping or a sudden draught problem usually means something has moved in.

We locate and safely remove the nest or animal, clear the flue of debris, and sweep it clean. Then we recommend a bird-guard cowl so it doesn’t happen again next season.

Sounds in the flue

Scratching, flapping or chirping — especially in spring nesting season.

Smoke or smell

A flue that suddenly won’t draw, or a musty animal smell in the room.

Debris in the firebox

Twigs, leaves or droppings falling into the hearth point to a nest above.

Questions, answered

Do you handle live animals humanely?
Yes. Where a live bird or possum is present we remove it safely and humanely, in line with wildlife guidelines.
Will it come back?
Not once a bird-guard cowl is fitted. We recommend one after every removal to seal the flue against re-nesting.
Is a blocked flue dangerous?
It can be — a blockage traps smoke and carbon monoxide indoors and raises the fire risk. Don’t light a fire until the flue is cleared.
